Spectrogram

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011158

A photographic or other permanent record of a spectrum, displaying the intensity of radiation as a function of a spectral variable like wavelength, frequency, or mass-to-charge ratio. This record is produced by a spectrograph, which disperses the radiation and focuses it onto a detector surface. A mass spectrogram, for instance, shows the relative abundance of ions plotted against their mass-to-charge ratio.
