Spectrometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009115
An instrument that measures the intensity of electromagnetic radiation as a function of its wavelength or frequency. It disperses light into its spectral components and detects the intensity at each component. Spectrometers are fundamental tools in atmospheric science for identifying and quantifying atmospheric gases, aerosols, and cloud properties through their unique spectral signatures.
