Spectrophotometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009116
An instrument that measures the intensity of light as a function of wavelength, specifically quantifying the amount of light absorbed or transmitted by a sample. It typically consists of a light source, a monochromator to select specific wavelengths, and a detector. In atmospheric science, spectrophotometers are used to measure ozone concentrations and aerosol optical depth by analyzing solar radiation absorption.
