Nucleating agent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008126
A substance added to a system to promote the formation of new phases, such as crystals from a solution or gas bubbles from a liquid. It provides sites for heterogeneous nucleation, lowering the energy barrier for phase transformation. Common examples include insoluble particles in crystallization or specific additives in polymer processing to control morphology.
