Nucleation of phase separation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008128
The initial stage of phase separation in a polymer blend or solution, where small, stable regions of a new phase begin to form within the existing homogeneous phase. This process requires overcoming an energy barrier for the formation of new interfaces. It can occur via either homogeneous or heterogeneous mechanisms.
