Micellar nucleation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007290
The formation of new polymer particles within the interior of surfactant micelles during emulsion polymerization. This process occurs when monomer molecules, solubilized within the micelles, begin to polymerize, leading to the growth of a polymer-monomer particle. Micellar nucleation is a primary mechanism for particle formation in emulsion polymerization when the monomer is sparingly soluble in water.
