Micellar solubilization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007294

The process by which a substance, typically insoluble or sparingly soluble in a solvent, is incorporated into the interior of micelles formed by surfactants in that solvent. The hydrophobic core of the micelle provides a favorable environment for the solubilized material. This phenomenon is widely used in detergents, drug delivery, and chemical reactions.
