Maximum additive concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007043
The largest concentration of a poorly soluble substance, usually a drug, that a given surfactant solution can take up by micellar solubilization while remaining a clear solution. Above this value the mixture turns turbid or the excess separates out. The value rises with surfactant concentration beyond the point where micelles first form, because more micelles are present to hold the solubilized substance.
