Maximum acceptable toxicant concentration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007042

The highest concentration of a toxicant in an environmental medium that causes no unacceptable effect on a population of organisms after prolonged exposure. It is derived from chronic toxicity tests and represents a threshold below which adverse effects are unlikely. This value is often used in regulatory contexts for environmental protection.
