Micellar polymerisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007291
The polymerization of a polymerizable surfactant, or surfmer, in solution above its critical micelle concentration, so the monomer units are already organised in micelles when the reaction starts. The micellar structure is usually not preserved as the chains grow. It differs from micellar nucleation in emulsion polymerization, where radicals enter micelles swollen with a separate, ordinary monomer.
