Homogeneous micellisation nucleation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005367
Particle formation in a polymerization in which oligomeric radicals made in the water phase become surface-active, typically because the initiator leaves ionic end groups on them, and assemble into micelles that serve as the primary particles. The micelles come from the oligomers themselves, not from surfactant micelles already present. It differs from micellar nucleation, where radicals enter existing surfactant micelles, and from homogeneous nucleation, where growing oligomeric radicals precipitate.
