Micellar electrokinetic chromatography
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007288
A mode of electrokinetic chromatography in which separation is based on the differential partitioning of analytes between a background electrolyte and micelles. The micelles, formed by adding a surfactant above its critical micelle concentration, act as a pseudostationary phase that moves at a different velocity from the bulk electroosmotic flow. This technique is particularly suited for the separation of neutral molecules, which do not migrate in a conventional capillary electrophoresis system.
