Foam fractionation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004550
A separation technique that concentrates surface-active components from a liquid solution by selectively adsorbing them at the gas-liquid interface of rising gas bubbles. These enriched bubbles then form a foam layer at the surface, which can be collected and collapsed to recover the concentrated material. This method is effective for separating proteins, surfactants, and other amphiphilic molecules from dilute solutions.
