Fractionation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004633
A process that separates a mixture of macromolecules into fractions based on differences in a specific property, such as molecular weight or chemical composition. This separation is achieved by exploiting variations in solubility, adsorption, or volatility among the components. Common methods include precipitation fractionation, chromatographic techniques, and ultracentrifugation.
