Isotopic fractionation factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006244
The ratio of the isotopic ratios of a specific element in two different substances or phases at equilibrium. This factor quantifies the preferential distribution of isotopes between these substances due to differences in their physical or chemical properties. It is a dimensionless quantity, often expressed as alpha (α).
