Extraction fractionation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004292

A method used to separate a polymer sample into fractions based on differences in molecular weight or chemical composition, by selectively extracting components using a series of solvents or solvent mixtures. This technique relies on the differential solubility of polymer chains. It is often employed to characterize the molecular weight distribution of complex polymer samples.
