Partial isotopic scrambling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008487
The incomplete redistribution of isotopes within a molecule or ion during a chemical reaction or fragmentation process, leading to a non-statistical distribution of isotopic labels. This phenomenon provides insights into reaction mechanisms and the connectivity of atoms within a molecular structure. It is often observed in mass spectrometry experiments.
