Sonoluminescence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011053
The emission of light from cavitation bubbles in a liquid that are excited by sound waves. As these bubbles rapidly collapse, the gas inside is compressed and heated to extreme temperatures, leading to the emission of a short burst of light. This phenomenon is distinct from triboluminescence and is studied for its potential applications in sonochemistry and energy generation.
