Superradiance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011607

The cooperative spontaneous emission of radiation by an ensemble of excited atoms or molecules, resulting in a burst of light with an intensity proportional to the square of the number of emitters. This phenomenon occurs when the emitters are close enough to interact coherently. It is distinct from ordinary spontaneous emission.
