Centre burst
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001794
The region of maximum intensity in an interferogram, corresponding to the point where the path difference between the two arms of an interferometer is zero. This central peak contains information from all wavelengths present in the incident radiation. Its position is used to define the zero path difference in Fourier transform spectroscopy.
