Dispersive Fourier-transform spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003310

A form of Fourier-transform spectroscopy in which the sample is placed in one arm of a Michelson or other two-beam interferometer, so that the interferogram is asymmetric and carries the phase shift as well as the absorption of the sample. Transforming the full interferogram gives both the absorption and the refractive index spectrum. It differs from conventional Fourier-transform spectroscopy, where the sample sits outside the interferometer and only transmitted intensity is measured.
