Zero path difference
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012799
The point in an interferometer where the optical path lengths of the two arms are exactly equal. At this position, all wavelengths of light interfere constructively, producing a central burst of maximum intensity in the interferogram. This point serves as a reference for measuring the optical path difference in Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.
