Zero point
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012800
The theoretical potential of a pH electrode when the hydrogen ion activity of the solution is equal to unity, corresponding to a pH of 0. This point is used in the calibration of pH meters to establish the reference potential for subsequent measurements. For a standard hydrogen electrode, the zero point potential is defined as 0 volts at all temperatures.
