pH

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008704

A numerical scale that quantifies the acidity or alkalinity of an aqueous solution. It is defined as the negative base-10 logarithm of the hydrogen ion activity, or approximately the hydrogen ion concentration. A neutral solution has a pH of 7 at 25 degrees Celsius, with values below 7 indicating acidity and values above 7 indicating alkalinity.
