Suspension pH
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011701
A pH meter reading taken in a soil suspension, mixed with water or an electrolyte, by potentiometry carried out as for an ordinary solution. It may differ from the supernatant pH because of the suspension effect, and most reported values have no known quantitative link to hydrogen ion activity. They are nevertheless repeatable characteristic values for a given suspension.
