Suspension polymerisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011702

A heterogeneous polymerization process where monomer droplets are dispersed in an immiscible continuous phase, usually water, and stabilized by mechanical agitation and suspending agents. Polymerization occurs within these individual monomer droplets, forming polymer particles that are larger than those produced by emulsion polymerization. The resulting polymer is obtained as beads or pearls, which are easily separated from the continuous phase.
