Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004618
An analytical technique that uses an interferometer to measure the absorption or emission of infrared radiation by a sample, generating an interferogram that is then converted into a spectrum via a Fourier transform. This method provides information about the vibrational modes of molecules, allowing for the identification of functional groups and molecular structure. It is widely used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic and inorganic compounds.
