Fourier-transform Raman spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004620
A form of vibrational spectroscopy that acquires a Raman spectrum using a Fourier-transform instrument based on an interferometer, such as a Michelson interferometer. This technique uses near-infrared laser excitation, which minimizes sample fluorescence that can overwhelm the weak Raman signal when using visible lasers. The resulting interferogram is converted into a spectrum of Raman shift versus intensity via a Fourier transform calculation.
