Diffuse reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003187

An infrared spectroscopic technique that combines diffuse reflection and absorption phenomena to analyze solid samples, particularly powders or rough surfaces. Infrared radiation penetrates the sample, undergoes multiple scattering events, and is partially absorbed before being diffusely reflected and detected. This method is sensitive to both surface and bulk properties of the material.
