Reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010094

A surface-sensitive analytical technique that measures the infrared absorption spectrum of molecules adsorbed on a reflective substrate. An infrared beam is directed at a grazing angle to the surface, and the reflected light is analyzed. This method is particularly effective for studying monolayers and thin films on metal surfaces, providing information about molecular orientation and bonding.
