Total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012146
A spectroscopic method that employs the total reflection of an incident X-ray beam from a sample surface to excite characteristic X-ray fluorescence. The grazing incidence angle significantly reduces the background signal from the substrate, enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio for surface-near elements. This technique is particularly effective for the quantitative analysis of trace elements on flat surfaces or in small liquid samples.
