Attenuated total reflection spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000931
A spectroscopic technique that involves placing a sample in contact with an internal reflection element, allowing an evanescent wave to penetrate the sample and interact with its molecular vibrations. The attenuated reflected light is then measured, providing a spectrum characteristic of the sample's chemical composition. This method is particularly effective for analyzing opaque or highly absorbing samples.
