Internal reflection element
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005971
A transparent optical component, such as a prism or crystal, through which electromagnetic radiation passes and undergoes one or more internal reflections. This element is designed to facilitate attenuated total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy by bringing the sample into intimate contact with its surface. Common materials for these elements include zinc selenide, germanium, or diamond.
