Infrared radiation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005837

Electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than microwaves, ranging from approximately 700 nanometers to 1 millimeter. This radiation is associated with molecular vibrations and rotations, making it valuable for identifying chemical bonds and functional groups. Infrared spectroscopy measures the absorption or emission of this radiation by a sample.
