VUV
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012630
Ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths shorter than approximately 200 nanometers, extending down to about 10 nanometers. This region of the electromagnetic spectrum is characterized by strong absorption by atmospheric gases, necessitating vacuum conditions for experimental studies. VUV radiation is energetic enough to cause ionization and electronic excitation in many molecules.
