Nitrogen laser
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007964
A gas laser that uses molecular nitrogen as the active medium to produce coherent light. It operates by exciting nitrogen molecules to a higher electronic state, which then undergo a population inversion. The emission occurs in the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum, typically at a wavelength of 337.1 nanometers.
