Gas laser
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004762
A type of laser that uses a gas or a mixture of gases as the active gain medium. The population inversion necessary for laser action is achieved by electrical discharge or optical pumping within the gas. Common examples include helium-neon (HeNe) lasers, carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers, and argon ion lasers.
