Atomic laser
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000896
A gas laser whose lasing medium is a vapour of free atoms, excited by energy handed over from other atomic or molecular species. The helium-neon laser and the copper vapour laser are examples. It emits coherent light, unlike an atom laser, which produces a coherent beam of matter.
