Free electron laser

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004650

A type of laser that generates coherent electromagnetic radiation by accelerating a beam of electrons through a periodic magnetic field, known as an undulator. Unlike conventional lasers, it does not rely on atomic or molecular energy levels for light emission. Free electron lasers can produce high-power radiation across a very broad range of wavelengths, from microwaves to X-rays.
