Free charge-carrier photogeneration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004649
The process by which incident light energy creates mobile charge carriers, such as electrons and holes, within a material. This occurs when photons are absorbed, exciting electrons to higher energy states where they can move freely through the material's lattice. The efficiency of this process is a key parameter in photovoltaic devices.
