Charge hopping
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001899
A mechanism of charge transport in materials, particularly in disordered or semiconducting systems, where charge carriers (electrons or holes) move between localized sites by thermally activated jumps. This process is distinct from band transport, where charge carriers move freely through delocalized states. Charge hopping is often observed in organic semiconductors and polymers.
