Intrinsic semiconductor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006039
A semiconductor material in its purest form, where the number of charge carriers (electrons and holes) is solely determined by the material's inherent electronic structure and temperature. In these materials, the concentration of electrons in the conduction band is equal to the concentration of holes in the valence band. Silicon and germanium are common examples of intrinsic semiconductors.
