Band-to-band recombination
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001110
A process in semiconductors where an electron from the conduction band directly recombines with a hole in the valence band, releasing energy typically as a photon. This is a radiative recombination mechanism that contributes to light emission in devices like light-emitting diodes. The energy of the emitted photon corresponds to the band gap of the semiconductor.
