Recombination centre
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010020
A defect or impurity within a semiconductor material that facilitates the non-radiative recombination of electron-hole pairs. These centers provide energy levels within the band gap that act as traps for charge carriers, allowing them to recombine without emitting light. They reduce the efficiency of devices like solar cells and light-emitting diodes.
