Rate of surface recombination

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009946

The speed at which photogenerated electron-hole pairs recombine non-radiatively at the surface of a semiconductor material, reducing the efficiency of charge separation. This process occurs when electrons and holes meet at surface defects or traps and annihilate each other without producing light. It is often characterized by a surface recombination velocity, measured in cm/s.
