Radiative charge carrier recombination

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009841

The process where an electron and a hole recombine, releasing their energy as a photon of light. This phenomenon is observed in semiconducting polymers and is the basis for light emission in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The energy of the emitted photon corresponds to the band gap energy of the polymer material.
