Deep energy trap
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002914
A localized energy state within the band gap of a semiconductor or insulator that can capture and hold charge carriers (electrons or holes) for a relatively long time. These traps are typically associated with defects or impurities in the material's crystal lattice. They can significantly affect the electrical and optical properties of the material, influencing processes like recombination.
