Toroidal ion trap
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012120
A type of ion trap mass analyzer where ions are confined in a toroidal (doughnut-shaped) electric field. This geometry allows for a larger ion storage capacity and potentially higher ion trapping efficiencies compared to linear or quadrupole ion traps. Ions are typically introduced and ejected through apertures in the toroid.
