Ion trap
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006097
A device that confines ions in a defined region of space using electric or magnetic fields. Ions are stored and manipulated within the trap for analysis, often involving mass-to-charge ratio determination. Common types include the Paul trap, which uses radiofrequency electric fields, and the Penning trap, which combines static electric and magnetic fields.
