Ion suppression
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006096
A phenomenon in mass spectrometry where the signal intensity of an analyte ion is reduced due to the presence of co-eluting matrix components. These matrix components compete with the analyte for ionization, leading to a decrease in the number of analyte ions detected. This effect is particularly prevalent in electrospray ionization and can impact quantification accuracy.
